Here at TLR, we love bringing our community together to share knowledge, stories, and ideas. Our monthly Thank God It’s Friday (TGIF) event is a cornerstone of this, usually featuring one of our own members speaking on a topic close to their heart. However, for January we had the pleasure of welcoming a special guest: Katya Dimitrova, an urban planner and co-founder of Burgas Coliving, who visited us from Bulgaria (as part of an exchange through the European Creative Hubs Network) to talk to us about your wellness routine while travelling.

Katya’s talk, ‘Travelling Mindfully: Crafting Your Wellness Routine No Matter Where You Are’, resonated deeply with our community of remote workers, entrepreneurs, and digital nomads.
In a world where we’re constantly on the move – whether changing locations or shifting between projects – her insights into maintaining balance and wellbeing were invaluable.

The Intersection of Travel and Wellness
Katya’s passion for holistic wellbeing stems from her own journey as a traveller, coliving space owner, and fitness enthusiast. She emphasised that true wellbeing is not just about maintaining physical health but also about nurturing the mind and soul.
Through her experiences in managing a coliving community, she has observed how individuals thrive when they integrate wellness into their daily routines – no matter where they are.

Some key takeaways from Katya’s talk included:
- Creating a Wellness Routine That Moves with You
Whether you’re staying in a place for a month or a year, consistency is key. Katya shared how to develop simple, adaptable habits that can fit into any lifestyle, such as morning movement rituals, mindful eating, and prioritising rest. - The Role of Community in WellBeing
One of the biggest challenges of frequent travel or remote work is loneliness. Katya highlighted the importance of embedding oneself in a community – be it a coworking space, a local running club, or a weekly social event like TGIF.
Finding shared activities that align with personal wellness goals can make all the difference in staying motivated and engaged.
- Mindfulness as a Travel Companion
It’s easy to get swept up in the excitement (or stress) of a new place. Mindfulness helps us stay present. Katya encouraged attendees to create small moments of awareness throughout the day – whether through breathing exercises, gratitude journalling, or simply taking time to appreciate a new environment. - Navigating Wellness in Different Cultures
Each country offers unique opportunities and challenges when it comes to wellbeing. Katya shared personal stories of adapting her fitness and nutrition routines while travelling, emphasising the importance of flexibility and curiosity. Trying local foods, engaging in cultural wellness practices, and being open to different approaches can enrich both body and mind.

A Community-Driven Approach to your Wellness Routine
Katya’s insights sparked engaging discussions among TLR members, many of whom shared their own strategies for maintaining wellness while travelling. From beach workouts to meal planning hacks, the conversation highlighted the diverse ways our community prioritises health and happiness on the move.

The evening wrapped up with our usual TGIF social. Members continued to exchange ideas and experiences over food and drinks. It was a reminder of why gatherings like these are so special – learning from one another, supporting each other’s journeys, and strengthening the connections that make coworking spaces like TLR so much more than just a place to work.
We are incredibly grateful to Katya for sharing her wisdom with us. We’re also thankful for the European Creative Hubs Network for making this exchange possible. If you missed this TGIF, don’t worry – there’s always another one just around the corner! Stay tuned for our next event, and in the meantime, keep cultivating wellness wherever your journey takes you!
