At TLR Coworking, we have a habit of doing things our way – especially when the festive season rolls around. While most places choose between a plastic tree or a cut one, we’ve proudly continued our now-iconic tradition: a real Christmas tree with roots, cared for, loved, and replanted after the holidays.
This living tree isn’t just beautiful; it represents everything TLR stands for; community, sustainability, and a deep connection to nature. And after the year we’ve had, filled with hikes, countryside escapes, and an unforgettable 10-year anniversary adventure in the Montes de Málaga, this year’s tree couldn’t be more fitting.
More Than Just a Decoration
Every Christmas, we partner with Ishavida, our beloved local plant experts, to bring a tree with roots into our space – a tree that returns to the earth after its holiday season with us. No landfill, no waste. Just life, continuity, and responsible celebration.
Sonja Breuer, founder of Ishavida, sums it up perfectly: “A rooted tree isn’t just décor. It’s a commitment to circularity, to the environment, and to giving back. It’s a way to celebrate without taking away.”
This is now our third year keeping the tradition going, with each year carrying its own theme. Last year, our blue-themed “ice bath tree” paid homage to the TLR cold-plunge obsession. The year before, we embraced TLR yellow – bright, bold, unmistakably us. This year, as expected, takes a wildly different turn…
A Woodland Theme Inspired by a Year in Nature
A lot of 2025 has been about getting outside.
From hiking trips to spontaneous mountain walks, from peaceful days in the countryside of Benarrabá with our friends from Rooral to four days of celebration deep in the Montes de Málaga for TLR’s 10-year anniversary – nature has been a running thread throughout the year.
So, naturally, our Christmas tree had to follow suit.
This year’s tree is dressed in a warm woodland theme. Look closely and you’ll find:
- Pine cones
- A partridge perched proudly
- Bunny rabbits tucked between branches
- Little forest creatures and bird species inspired by our local area
- Earthy textures and natural touches
It’s a tree that feels like a mini-Montes de Málaga right in the centre of our coworking space.
The Magic Behind the Tree
Every year we look forward to the arrival of the tree from Ishavida, and usually use it as an excuse to stop what we’re doing and decorate the rest of the space in festive garb – a tradition that instantly shifts the atmosphere into Christmas mode.
Our TLR Family has already made full use of this year’s tree – storing Secret Santa gifts beneath the branches, and gathering around it for last week’s holiday party games, turning it into the centrepiece of this year’s festivities.
The Power of Nature: Why It Works So Well in a Workspace
A living tree brings more than festive vibes. Nature has repeatedly proven to:
