Are you a digital nomad and looking for your next destination? As you might have heard, Málaga in Southern Spain is one of the best places to go on vacation or even spend a longer amount of time! Great beaches, food, people, surrounding landscapes and of course the warm Mediterranean climate! But did you know that it’s also a great place to run your business from? If you’re a digital nomad like me, Malága becomes more and more interesting as a digital nomad hot spot! Networking is easy, living costs acceptable and of course the city has one of the best coworking offices that I know ;-). The local, provincial and even the national government are now launching different programmes to make it even more profitable to choose Málaga as one of your next destinations as a digital nomad.
This year the City of Málaga launched the platform Málaga WorkBay to make it easier to set up your home office in the city. On their website, you find information on housing, coworking and the business community of Málaga. They help you set up your business, find accommodation, translate important documents and obtain any necessary permits. Get ready for your career in the sun!
Free accommodation for digital nomads
Besides that, the province of Málaga (Tourism Costa del Sol) decided to team up with AirBnB to attract more remote workers to this beautiful part of Spain. In collaboration with the City Hall, they offer a once in a lifetime opportunity: four weeks of free accommodation in one of the most desired destinations in Southern Spain.
Four lucky digital nomads will have the chance to jump-start their digital nomad life in Málaga. You just have to tell the Málaga destination promoters why you would love to go, how your stay contributes to your project or business and which type of nomad you are (in Spanish). And last but not least: do you prefer a sea view, a mountain view or the city buzz? In Málaga you can have it all!
Spain launches new visa for digital nomads
As we speak, the Spanish government is working on the new StartUp Act. With this new law, aimed to promote and develop entrepreneurship in the country, a new visa will be created for digital nomads and remote workers who are in Spain. It will be easier to apply for residency and there are some tax benefits. This new law is still a draft so we have to wait a little bit longer to know how it’s exactly going to be, but it sounds very promising!
